Although the members of the FM are mostly sovereign states, the institutions of basic and higher education in the Federated Micronations are fairly integrated and mostly co-financed by the states and the federation. This is due to the history of the FM, but it has also proven to be helpful for the stability of the institutions in difficult times, and as a consequence, positive for both the federation and the states.

All states and most territories have their own institutions of lower and higher education. The most prominent ones are listed on the subpages, together with important areas of research. The Federation has founded specialized institutes with focussed areas of research, which also cooperate with the Federal Agencies.
