The State Department of the Federated Micronations (SDFM) has been founded by experts from the State Department of the Republic of Capricornia. All Declarations of the State Department of the Republic of Capricornia as of 2009-10-02 have been declared to be valid for the Federated Micronations of the Musanian lands. For information abot the State Department of the Republic of Capricornia, please refer to the Web Site of the State Department of the Republic of Capricornia.

The State Department of the Federated Micronations currently employs four different channels for an active foreign policy:

  • Unilateral Recognitions of other countries, not demanding or requiring a reciprocal action
  • Bilateral Recognitions of other countries
  • Declarations as reaction on events in foreign countries
  • Usage of intermicronational communication channels to inform about the Federation and its Republics, e.g. on the Microwiki page, currently with information about Capricornia and Musograd.

Other means, like visits to other Micronations and participation in Micronational Congresses, may be added on a case by case basis.

The State Department of the Federated Micronations operates and manages the Federated Micronations Diplomatic Service (FMDS) which executes the foreign policy decisions of the State Department and may be considered a fully integrated componend of the SDFM.

The SDFM is led by the Secretary of State in Permanent Casual Vacancy (SoS-PCV). The position of the SoS-PCV is defined by strict requirements described by the Federation Accord. These require it to be filled by a person with at least 50 years of experience in the field of diplomacy, but with a strict age limit of 55 years. Other requirements pertain to gender (both, required) and nationality (all F.M. nationalities, required). This makes sure that the position can never be filled and makes sure that the roles of the top diplomats of the F.M. member nations are never put in question.

The Federal Service for Data Management (FSDM), responsible for the support of this website, apologizes for the similarity of the abbreviations SDFM and FMDS.
